Air Fryer Apple Ring Doughnuts

  • Apples are at their peaks during the autumn season and should be consumed as they are to get all its benefits, but I guess air-fried apple ring doughnuts are not bad either as we are using a whole slice of apple and just air frying them.
  • These healthier air-fried apple ring fritters are a delicious treat that can be consumed at any time of the year. These are vegan but you can make vegetarian by adding dairy products or eggs.
  • These air fried apple ring fritters are so tasty, they taste like in-between apple pancake, apple fritters and cinnamon coated doughnuts, just with an apple slice.
  • These are so easy to make, just slice the apples, dip in vegan batter, air fry them with less oil and dip into the cinnamon sugar and enjoy hot.
  • These can be enjoyed as snacks, breakfast or serve as a light dessert.

Ingredients For Air Fryer Apple Ring Fritters

> Apples
> Self-raising flour
> Sugar
> Cinnamon powder
> Plant-based milk
> oil
> Sparkling water

Ingredients for this recipe is easily available every nook and corner and is perfect for any get together as it is and can be doubled/tripled.

How to make Air Fryer Apple Ring Doughnuts?

In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cinnamon powder and milk, add enough sparkling water to make the batter.

First, peel the apple, remove the core with the core remover and sprinkle lemon juice.

You don’t need to preheat the air fryer, place the air fryer with the round parchment.

Dip the apple rings into the batter.

Oil the lining, place the rings on it and again oil the apple rings.

Air fry them until crispy and light brown. flip them in between half of the time.

In a plate combine sugar and cinnamon, roll them straight away.

What variety of apples should I use?

We have used Gala apples, which are all-purpose apples. But if you can get hold of other varieties such as cooking apples, which are great for cooking, baking or frying. Other than that Granny Smith, Golden Delicious and Braeburn are a good choice too.

Can I use the Pancake mix for a shortcut?

These air fried apple ring fritters are so easy and quick to make, but if you want to
speed up the process you can use a store-bought pancake mix, which only requires milk or water to make the perfect batter.

I don’t have self-raising flour, what should I use instead?

Self-raising flour is prepared of all-purpose or plain flour (maida), baking powder and salt.  You can easily make this blend at home too.

Take 1 cup plain flour,  1 1/2 tsp (one and a half tsp) baking powder and 1/4 tsp salt, combine well and use it for this recipe.

What is the purpose of using sparkling water? Can I omit totally?

The sparkling water makes the batter so fluffy, light and crisp. You can use normal water or any other milk, but won’t achieve the same results.

How to make Cinnamon Sugar?

Cinnamon sugar is combines of granulated sugar and fine cinnamon powder which can be easily made at home.

Take 1/3 cup of granulated sugar and add 1 tsp cinnamon powder. Mix well and store it in an airtight container.

You can sprinkle this cinnamon sugar on top of 3 Ingredient Vegan Oatmeal Waffles

Can I use icing sugar to sprinkle the doughnuts?

Absolutely yes!

How to serve air-fried apple ring doughnuts?

These are best to serve as soon as ready, if left for too long they turn soft and soggy. Apple ring doughnuts are so good on their own but can be served with hot beverages or with milkshakes to kids.

Can I reheat leftover Apple Ring Doughnuts?

Well, if there are any leftovers, as I promise you won’t have any leftovers, but if there are one or the other reason than the answer is yes. Just preheat the air fryer for a couple of minutes then cook for 2 minutes.

Be careful, the cinnamon sugar on top of the doughnut will melt and can burn your fingers or mouth if eaten straight away ..

@Saima Moin, you may use pinch of baking soda and regular tap water instead of sparkling water. Hope this helps.
