J Cooking Odyssey is a vegetarian food blog built on a simple belief: that food is about so much more than what's on the plate. It's culture, memory, family, and story and every recipe here comes with all of that baked in.
Founded in 2010 by Jagruti Dhanecha, JCO began as a way to document and share the authentic recipes and food knowledge Jagruti had built up over a lifetime. Now in its second chapter, the blog is run by Hayley Dhanecha bringing a fresh perspective while staying rooted in that same family tradition.

With nearly 1,000 published recipes, JCO covers a vast range of vegetarian, vegan and eggless food.
Indian cuisine is at the heart of the blog — from everyday Gujarati home cooking to recipes spanning across India. Our Gujarati recipes and East African Indian recipes are a particular speciality.
Alongside Indian food, you'll find fusion recipes, global vegetarian dishes, Indian sweets and mithai, and everything in between. Some recipes are quick and weeknight-friendly. Others are for special occasions and need a little more love. Some are deeply traditional. Others celebrate two cuisines at once.
Our Food Philosophy
Every recipe on JCO is vegetarian and eggless — without exception. That's been true since day one and will never change.
We believe in cooking a wide variety of food that is wholesome, seasonal, and genuinely delicious. Recipes use all sorts of different ingredients and cooking methods — variety is the whole point.
Authentic recipes are made using proper, traditional ingredients and techniques. That matters to us, particularly for Gujarati and East African Indian dishes where getting it right is a point of pride. At the same time, we love a good Indian fusion recipe — food that celebrates more than one culture at once is something we find endlessly exciting.
Every recipe on JCO has a story or an anecdote behind it. That's not a marketing line — it's just how we cook.

JCO has always been a family endeavour. It was founded by Jagruti, shaped by generations of family recipes, and is now carried forward by Hayley. The knowledge, the stories, and the love of food are all still very much here.
