Upgrade your lassi with Mango, Passion Fruit and Coconut Lassi, a tropical fruit blend prepared with vegan coconut yogurt, fresh mango and passion fruit. Bursting with exotic flavour, it's my go-to way to cool down on hot summer days. Bonus, it's so easy to prep - just a quick whizz of all the ingredients in a blender!

Note – This recipe has been updated from our recipe archives with new images and content. I have adapted the recipe to make it vegan. First published in April 2016.
The Tropical Lassi I keep coming back to
This is my take on a classic mango lassi but with a tropical upgrade. I’ve always loved the combination of mango and passionfruit (it worked so well in my mango passionfruit melting moments), and it just made sense to bring those flavours into a lassi.
Adding coconut was a natural next step. It’s one of my favourite flavour pairings on the blog, and it gives this lassi a rich, creamy texture without any dairy.
It's the perfect drink for when:
- you have bought too many mangoes (usually me)
- you're hosting a summer BBQ
- preparing summertime breakfasts
- you need a cooler on scorching days
- you want to serve non-alcoholic drinks at a summer pool party
I usually serve this with something spicy on the side. Indian fusion tandoori cauliflower tacos are a favourite, or a spread of crispy snacks like pyaaz kachori pinwheels.
And if you’ve got more mangoes to use up, there’s plenty to explore: from vegan avocado mango sushi to something more unique like mango chilli houmous.

Ingredients for Tropical Mango Lassi
Be sure to check out the full recipe and exact ingredient list below in the recipe card.
Mango - I've used chunks of mango for this recipe. Use fresh mango where possible but you can also use frozen.
In the months of April/May until June, you can find Indian mangoes in some supermarkets and most Asian grocery stores. Indian mango have an unsurpassed taste and if you can, it is worth sourcing these although you can do without for this recipe.
You can also use tinned mango pulp if you cannot find fresh mango. This is usually sweetened so you may not need extra sugar.
Passionfruit - Mango's best friend in this recipe. Buy fresh passion fruit and scoop out the beautiful flesh.
Coconut yogurt - I love the richness that a dairy free coconut yogurt brings so that's what I've used here. If you can't find it, use coconut milk and a plain dairy free yogurt.
Sugar - if your mango is not sweet enough, add some white granulated sugar. Alternatively, use agave syrup, maple syrup or honey. You could also add 1 banana to sweeten - in fact, it'll taste even more tropical.
Milk or water - add a plant based milk or water to thin out the lassi as needed.

How to make Mango Lassi step by step
- Place all the ingredients in a blender, and blend until it is smooth.
