Rose Lassi is made with full fat yogurt, milk and rose syrup. My secret ingredient is a generous pour of fresh cream to make it extra indulgent and creamy. Just 5 minutes and 4 ingredients and you've got perfection in a glass!

Note - This rose lassi originally created and posted in March 2012, but since we have updated the post with new pictures and content.
The Rose Lassi That Always Gets People Asking for the Recipe
This is my go-to version when I want sweet lassi to feel a little more special. The flavour is delicate and floral, but it’s the addition of fresh cream that really sets it apart. It's smoother, richer, and intensifies that rose flavour in a way most standard rose lassi recipes just don’t.
It’s that one extra step that takes it from good to something people really remember!
I made this for a party alongside spicy appetisers like triple layer bread pakora and packed potato bhajia, and it worked perfectly to balance the heat. It’s the kind of crowd pleasing drink I always fall back on - and there’s always a point where someone asks for the recipe, which tells you everything you need to know!
I serve it well chilled, often with a light garnish of rose petals or nuts. It’s perfect for entertaining, but just as good when you want to treat yourself.
Trust me, I do.

Ingredients for Rose Lassi
Rose lassi is prepared with main 4 ingredients with the option of other ingredients. It is made with plain whole or full fat yogurt, Whole Milk, Cream and Rose Syrup.
Rose syrup - I use the Rooh Afza brand, which is a popular herbal rose syrup. During Ramadan months, most of the supermarkets have offers on them. Rose syrup is easy to find in both British and Asian supermarkets.
In USA Monin and Guru brand rose syrup quite popular.
You specifically need rose syrup and not rose water. If you only have rose water or rose essence then you'll need to add sugar. Also your lassi will remain white.
Yogurt - The main ingredient for lassi is yogurt or dahi. I always use plain whole yogurt.
For creamier and thicker lassi, you'll require higher fat content yogurt. For rich lassi I would go for at least 5% fat. Here I have used a 10% Greek yogurt.
Milk - Milk is needed to thin out the lassi. For creaminess (yes, I'm obsessed with creaminess factor), I have used whole milk.
Cream - my SECRET ingredient. Using cream takes this lassi to a whole new level. If you want to make the best lassi, do not cut any corners and use cream! You will never make lassi any other way. I promise. It gives you that restaurant style creaminess. Use single or double/heavy cream.
Storing & Make Ahead Instructions
Store the lassi in an airtight container or large pitcher (tightly covered with clingfilm) in the fridge for up to a day. Give it a good whisk before serving.
Only add ice (if using) just before serving - nobody wants watery lassi.
If you have now ended up with a big bottle of rose syrup, here are some delicious rose syrup recipes:
- Rose Sherbet/Sharbat with Hibiscus and Basil Seeds - cooling, pretty and very delicious.
- Rose mocktail - made with just 2 ingredients.

Okay I have to try this. As a huge Mango Lassi fan, I always have yogurt on hand. Now I only have to source the rose syrup. Does rose water work?
