Kachi Keri aur Pyaj Ka Kachumber - Raw Mango and Onion Relish - Mango Mania

Made n Enjoyed
Hello readers,

For me, spotting raw mangoes in the market is not new as where I stay raw mangoes are available all year round. In India however, as soon as the Holi festival finishes, the markets get flooded with raw mangoes. Using those mangoes in Indian cooking brings a smile to my family members.

Maybe, this recipe is highly recommend for those countries where temperatures are soaring high to sky, but that doesn't mean that I can't make it myself!? No way is the weather going to stop me from having this delicious, tasty and tongue tickling raw mango and onion relish!

I've seen this recipe being prepared by my mum every summer when I was child. She used to say that by eating this relish every single day during very hot summer that I wouldn't get sunburnt or get sunstroke. This applied especially to those people who work outside or stay outside a lot.Very few ingredients are needed and can get ready in minutes.

You will need :-
  • 1 raw mango
  • 1 Onion
  • Salt per taste
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds ( crused )
  • 1-2 tbsp sugar
Method :-
Wash, peel and grate mango.
Peel and grate Onion.
Mix together in a bowl, add salt, chilli powder, cumin seeds and sugar.
Mix and leave for 10-12 minutes.
Serve with any meal.

  2. How tasty it looks !
I wish I could get hold of raw mangoes. here no one used them raw.. we see ripe ones through out the year..sometimes while travelling we come across a tree and pluck them raw..

  3. I love the combination of the spicy with the sweet in this relish - and that there's no cooking required! That's perfect for hot summer days when no one wants to be in a hot kitchen... Thanks so much for sharing!

The greatest good you can do for another, is not just share your riches, but reveal to them their own.
