Peanut Potato Farali Kadhi – Mungphali Aloo ki Kadhi

Peanut, Potato Farali Kadhi is an ideal recipe to prepare on a fasting day such as Mahashivratri, Navratri or Ekadashi. It is an easy and straightforward recipe.

A farali kadhi made with peanuts, boiled potatoes and Rajgira ( amaranth ) flour with a unique taste, mildly spiced, sweet and tangy.  Perfectly goes with Moraiyo ( sama ) khichdi, Vratwale Aloo and Rajgira Puri or farali Thepla.

The festive season of Chaitra Navratri starts tomorrow. For many, it’s time for festivities and f(e)asting, time to devour some absolutely delicious and irresistible fasting recipes.

You will need :-

  • 1 cup mild yogurt ( Not too sour )
  • 1 medium potato boiled and peeled
  • 2 tbsp. roasted peanut powder
  • 1 tbsp. green chilli and ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp. rajgira flour
  • Sendha namak
  • 2 Tbsp. ghee
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp. sugar ( optional )
  • 1/4 tsp. whole spices ( cloves and cinnamon )
  • 1 dry red chilli
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Method :-
In a big bowl combine yogurt, potato, peanut powder, green chilli and ginger paste, sugar, salt.
Add little water and use hand blender to make smooth thin batter.
Heat ghee in another pan, add cumin seeds.
Once they crackle add red chilli and whole spices.
When they crackle add yogurt mixture.
Keep stirring constantly on a very low heat for 8-10 minutes.
Once done . garnish with the fresh coriander and serve hot.
