MANGO AND LIME LASSI | BEST INDIAN MANGO LASSI RECIPE

There is no denying it, we LOVE mangoes in our household! Whenever they are available in British supermarkets we love making amazing vegan avocado and mango sushi

However, we eagerly wait for the Indian varieties such as Alphonso and Kesar to reach the UK once a year during summer months.

And Mum can not wait to make Gujarati style keri no ras, fajeto and mango matho while Dad and I indulge in making this refreshing mango lassi, it's pure bliss!

Delicious Indian mango lassi served in a bottle with paper straw and placed on a old book.

Homemade Mango and Lime Lassi

✓Lucious Indian mango drink

✓Cooling and refreshing smoothie

✓Uses up leftover mango pulp

✓ Perfect for breakfast or as dessert

✓ No cooking requires

Mango and Lime Lassi Ingredients

1. Mango pulp/mango nectar - fresh, canned or frozen works. We used Alphonso mango pulp.

2. Greek yogurt - use the full-fat variety. Alternatively, use plain but still full-fat yogurt

3. Sugar - Adjust according to the sweetness you want and depending on the fruit/mango pulp sweetness. alternatively, use light honey.

It is important that the honey is mild and light otherwise it will overpower the lassi.

4. Lime juice - use fresh or bottled

Optional:

To make the lassi even creamier you can add

Milk or Cream - simply whisk with the yogurt. Add however much you want depending on the thickness you want for your lassi

Can I make vegan lassi?

Absolutely yes, just replace dairy products to vegan and use vegan sugar or maple syrup.

If you use coconut yogurt, you'll have tropical flavoured lassi

Variation

As a base Mango lassi is made with mango and yogurt, the rest is pretty flexible.

●Add a pinch of cardamom powder or crushed seeds and you'll have mango and cardamom lassi.

●A small pinch of saffron enhances the flavours of this lassi, be careful not to add too much as we want prominent flavours of the mangoes.

●Some crushed nuts on top of the lassi, lends some texture and crunch to the lassi and makes richer.

●You may add other tropical fruits or fruit puree such as pineapple, passion fruits or papaya to enjoy tropical flavours.

●For a cooling and refreshing effect few drops of rose extract or rose water makes a lovely change too.

How to serve Mango Lassi?

You want to have chilled lassi. If you have not used chilled yogurt or frozen mango cubes put the lassi in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving.

I wouldn't recommend adding any ice cubes to the lassi as it will make lassi watery.

For breakfast, I love to pair it with No onion potato and sweetcorn seviyan upma

Serve this lassi with Maru Na Bhajia

Or just sip as it is while reading a book in your back garden on a lounge chair.

How to make Mango and Lime Lassi

The recipe of mango and lime lassi is pretty straight forward and quick that even your 10-year-old can have a go at too, just blend everything.

If using mango pulp, you don't even need a blender, just use a balloon whisk to combine everything.

Make sure the ingredients are used for this lassi are already chilled.

How to Store lassi?

Fridge - If possible enjoy mango lassi as fresh as possible, but if any leftover store in an airtight container or sealed bottle and keep in the refrigerator for 8-10 hours.

Freezer - Pour it in the popsicle moulds and make summer treat for just like we made Mango, Basil and Cashew Yogurt  Popsicle.

Pour it in the ice cubes tray and use few at a time in making a smoothie with other ingredients.

Delicious mango drink served in four bottles and placed on a old book with a wedges of lime.

On hot days, we rely on lashings of lassi to keep us cool, we love our Lassi Varieties:

Caramel Lassi

  2. Lime in lassi is unusual for me.. as we don't use lime and milk together. But, I just love lime and anything lime(y) or lemon(y) so I am gonna try this.
    Lovely pics as usual. :)
