Suran Peanut Moraiyo / Sama /Samo Khichdi #vratkakhana #fastingrecipes #faralirecipes #nowonmyblog #jcookingodyssey

Suran Peanut Moraiyo khichdi usually made during fasting period like Navratri, Mahashivratri, Janamasthmi or Holy month of Shravana. Moraiyo cooked with suran ( yam ) and peanuts, goes well with Peanut Potato Farali Kadhi. 

You will need :-

  • 100g Moraiyo or Sama 
  • 100 g par boiled suran pieces ( I used frozen )
  • 3 tbsp. raw peanuts
  • 2 tbsp. chilli ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp. ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste ( rock salt )
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed black pepper ( optional )
  • Fresh coriander leaves to garnish
Method :-
Clean, wash and soak Maraiyo for half an hour.
Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, once they crackle add raw peanuts.
Fry peanuts for couple of minutes, add par boiled suran and chilli ginger paste.
Add soaked Moraiyo and mix.
Add enough water to cook Maraiyo, add ground black pepper and salt.
Close lid and cook Moraiyo until done, if you like runny consistency add little more water.
Once done , add lemon juice.
Keep it cover for couple of minutes.
Serve with Kadhi or yogurt.
