Hemp seed, basil and coriander pesto - Good Hemp Seeds and Oil review

Made n Enjoyed
Hello readers,

Normally all of our healthy eating worries enter our minds at the beginning of the year. We make new year resolutions and swear by the new year's resolution oath that we will eat well and play well. Slowly, that all begins to slip away! This year however, I am determined to change as much as I can!

To keep that spirit in mind, I went to the Vitality Show to gain more inspiration. One of the stalls there was Good Hemp Food. At the stall, we tried a fruit smoothie which was blended with their gym shake. It tasted great! Recently, I received a parcel from Good Hemp containing every one of their products for me to review.

I was impressed with the Shelled Hemp Seed tubs which came in 4 different flavours. They are: Shelled Hemp, Italian Herbs, Asian Spices and Sweet Cinnamon. I think it's great that the Shelled Hemp seeds can be bought flavoured because it makes them easier to use. My mind was whizzing with ideas when I saw the different types!
Here is some information on the Good Hemp Shelled Hemp Seed:

One of the most popular lunch dishes in my house has to be pasta. We eat pasta in so many different ways! Lately, we have started making our own pesto to accompany the pasta. I guess I was lucky when the Shelled Hemp Seed came in the Italian Herbs flavour. I decided to make a green pesto packed with fresh basil and fresh and fragrant coriander! I decided that I would add in the shelled hemp and also add in Good Hemp Oil which was also included in the package.

GOOD OIL - British Cold pressed hemp oil

    • Higher content of Omega 3, 6, & 9 (the good polyunsaturated fats) than any other culinary oil

    • Half the saturated fat of olive oil

The pesto was packed with flavour and the Hemp Seeds gave the pesto a creamy yet nutty texture. It tasted even better when I knew how healthy the recipe was for me!

    Ingredients:-
    • 2-3 handfuls of fresh basil
    • 2-3 handfuls fresh coriander
    • 3 cloves garlic
    • 2 tbsp pine nuts
    • 2 tbs Shelled Hemp Seeds - Italian Herbs
    • 1-2 tbs Good Oil
    • 1 tsp chilli flakes
    • Salt

    Method:-
    Blend all ingredients together.
Store in the fridge for one week.

    13. Remove any flowering spikes if you are growing coriander for its foliage or else the plant will direct its energy into producing flowers and seeds, and not into producing leaves.
