Sev Tameta nu Shaak ~ Spicy Gram flour noodles and Tomatoes Curry

Hey Ma Mataji!!!!!! does this ring the bell? No? OK once again Hey Ma Mataji !!!!! I am sure you all are giggling right now, you got it..:-))

Mrs Daya Jethalal Gada :- Tappu ke papa aap kya khayenge ?
Mr Jethalal Gada :- Undhiyu, khaman dhokla, puri and basundi....Daya
Mrs Daya Jethalal Gada :- aisa karo na aap aaj Sev tameta nu shaak khao na, me banavi lidhu che...
Mr Jethala Gada :- Bana liya tha to phir pucha kyun?
Mrs Daya Jethala Gada :- Vo to mein kal ke liye puch rahi thi...:-))

I simply love Daya's character in this serial Tarak Mehta ka Oolta chashma..this character is simply the best and Disha  has done immense justice to the role and character. Simply mind blowing, her timing and the garba that she dances is simply fantastic."hey maa mataji" dialogue and her voice makes me laugh :-) . Her chemistry with Jetha Bhai is awesome. Simply we love to watch this serial..brings so much joy into our lives. Being fan of Daya Gada and her cooking ( in serial ), I thought I play this joke on my hubby too..I did well there, and I made a sev tameta nu shaak...this curry is very popular in Gujerati household. Very easy to make, quick and simply taste is awesome.

You will need:-
  • 500 g ripe tomatoes roughly chopped
  • 50 g plum tomatoes ( optional, since I came to UK i do add it's brings more colour to the curry )
  • 150-200 g sev ( gram flour noodles any size I used thin )
  • 2 tsp finely chopped green chillies, garlic and ginger
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • pinch of asafoetida ( hing )
  • 1 tsp mustards and cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp cumin and coriander powder
  • 2 tbsp jeggary or sugar
  • salt to taste
  • fresh chopped coriander for garnishing
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder

Method :-
Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan, add mustard and cumin seeds when they crackles add hing. Now add curry leaves, chopped chillis, garlic and ginger, fry for few seconds and add chopped tomatoes . Add all the masala powder and salt. Mix well and add jeggary or sugar. Let it cook to a fairly thick sauce. it will take about 6-7 minutes. If it's too thick add 2-3 tbsp water. Just before ready to serve, heat the sauce again, add sev mix gently and garnish with coriander. Serve it with hot roti or paratha. Enjoy !
